Challenge
An existing client who is a roofing and cladding contractor approached us in December. He had secured a contract in France to complete a roof on a commercial premise. The work would take approximately 6-7 weeks over a 6-month period.
We approached his current insurers to check if the policy extended to EU countries. However, the policy could not be extended because of reinsurance restrictions, and our client could not be accommodated under their existing policy.
Our solution
As part of our review, we approached several key insurers in the market, and we were able to provide the client with a range of options with varying premiums, excesses, limits and territorial limits on the policy quotes.
By taking the time to search the market and engage with insurers at an early stage, we were able to find a solution for our client, which ultimately led to them moving to another insurer with the appropriate cover and limits to allow them to accept the contract.
Outcome
To be able to offer a tailor-made policy for Tradesman insurance provided a real solution for the client due to the complex and high-risk nature of the client’s occupation.
The client was happy to renew their policy with us, despite approaching three other brokers.
