As part of your Angling Trust coaching licence, all UKCC level 1 and Level 2 qualified coaches automatically receive Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Personal Accident insurance.
Your insurance policy through the Angling Trust protects you and your business for incidents arising from agreed recognised activities.
The insurance covers specified angling activities done in the UK and on temporary visits abroad. For visits to the USA and Canada, only temporary visits less than 90 days would be covered.
Your insurance with Angling Trust consists of:
- Professional Indemnity
- Public Liability
- Personal Accident insurance
Licensed coaches recognised activity covered under the insurance
- Teaching and coaching in all disciplines of angling, up to your level of qualification, anywhere in the UK
- Temporary coaching overseas
- Being a guide or gillie, within your level of qualification
- Includes casting and casting competitions
- Use of boats/watercraft under 8m in length (but not charter fishing)
- Using power tools for clearing and maintaining coaching areas (but subject to certain safety protocol, please see FAQs on power tools below)
- All coaches also have the cover levels of an Individual member to cover their personal/ recreational / competition angling

Policy limits, excess and other key information
With a limit of indemnity of up to £10m protecting affiliated members if held responsible and are accidentally negligent for causing injury to someone else or damage to someone’s property. The cover applies whilst undertaking the Angling Trust recognised activity.
Please note that with effect from the 24 August 2020 to 24 August 2022 a communicable disease exclusion applied to this section of the insurance policy.
Covered for a limit up to £10m protecting against affiliated members if held responsible for breach of professional duty arising from negligent act error or omission of a Qualified Person arising from their Angling Trust recognised Activity. This section includes a libel and slander extension.
This section is written on a claims made basis and is subject to retroactive date 25 July 2017. It is essential that any claims or circumstances that might give rise to a claim are notified during the policy period in accordance with the terms of the policy wording otherwise the right for indemnity under this insurance will be forfeited.
Personal accident insurance which provides “no fault” benefits should an injury happen to an insured person whilst undertaking an activity as recognised under your Angling Trust insurance policy.

Frequently asked questions
For your insurance cover to apply, power tools must be:
• used as per the manufacturers' guidelines
• used only by competent adult
• securely locked away when not in use
• chainsaw users must wear appropriate PPE equipment
In all other instances, your insurance will not cover the use of power tools.
As the insurance is included within your membership package, as long as you stay up-to-date with your Angling Trust membership, your insurance will be valid.
