Notify an incident or report a claim

A situation or event where you may need to claim on your insurance is called an "incident giving rise to a claim."

When an incident giving rise to a claim happens, please inform British Taekwondo as soon as practically possible, because all insurance policies have certain claims conditions that need to be met. Prompt notification is one of the most important.

As soon as you know of an incident that may give rise to a claim, please inform British Taekwondo as soon as possible.

To report an incident, download the incident notification form and send it to: [email protected]

Please read the following regarding your responsibilities in reporting incidents.

Liability incident

You must comply with the following conditions. If you fail to do so the insurer may not pay your claim or any payment could be reduced. It is your responsibility to prove any loss and therefore we may ask you to provide any relevant information, documents and assistance we may require to help with your claim.

You must:
  • Give notice in writing  as soon as reasonably practicable of the discovery of any occurrence or circumstance which may give rise to a claim under this policy
  • Notify British Taekwondo as soon as possible giving full details of what has happened
  • Comply with any reasonable request made by insurers for information relating to any claim
  • Forward to British Taekwondo as soon as possible, but no later than fourteen (14) days, if a claim for liability is made against you, any letter claim summons or other legal document and any related correspondence you receive unanswered. Professional Indemnity and Directors and Officers Claims must be notified within the same period of insurance you become aware of the incident
  • Inform insurers as soon as reasonably practicable of the notice of any impending prosecution or inquest which may give rise to a claim under the policy and comply with any reasonable request made by insurers
  • Not admit liability or offer or promise or agree to settle any claim without the insurers' written permission
  • Take all reasonable care to limit any loss, damage or injury.

Personal Accident Incident

Please note that if medical treatment has been received you must obtain medical certificates showing the nature of the bodily injury.

All circumstances that are likely to give rise to a claim under the Personal Accident insurance should be notified within 30 days after the occurrence (or as soon as practicably possible thereafter).

Full details are included within your policy documents. See the Policy & Document hub for more information.
