Howden, the global insurance group, is pleased to announce the launch of new flexible Professional Indemnity, Medical Malpractice, Public Liability and Commercial Shop insurance products for UK pharmacies.

Despite the size and importance of the sector, UK Pharmacy has been limited in where to buy its insurance, with only a small number of providers operating in the market.

The new specialist products from Howden offer an alternative option for pharmacies. And, at a time when there is increasing financial pressure in the sector, having more choice to help deliver greater value has never been more important.

Designed with flexibility in mind, the products can be purchased as one combined policy with a single renewal date or separately, depending on the preferences of the pharmacy.

The scope of cover has been designed to encompass the growing clinical and business needs of pharmacies. In the wake of a burdened NHS, pharmacies are increasingly looking to diversify their services to provide accessible care to their communities. Howden’s new coverages have a broad scope to reflect the evolving nature of pharmacy services.

The new product suite has been designed by Ian Smith, Divisional Director at Howden, who brings over 10 years’ experience in providing insurance broking services for pharmacies. It is underwritten by Allied World, an A-rated insurer who are prevalent in other healthcare sectors.

Ian Smith
Having worked closely with pharmacies for many years I have great admiration and empathy for the invaluable work they do for the nation. In these pressurised times, I am really pleased we can offer a compelling proposition to make pharmacists’ lives a bit easier.
